1.
Will
I lose consciousness or be out of control?
No! You will not lose consciousness and you will be in complete
control. While your eyes may be closed and you are relaxed, you
will know that you are not unconscious or asleep. Most likely you
will hear everything that is being said to you.
2.
Will I have difficulty awakening?
No! You are at all times able to awaken yourself should you wish
to do so. However, it is to your advantage to remain in the hypnotic
state until your therapist asks you to awaken.
3.
Is a weak will needed for hypnosis?
On the contrary, a strong willed person is more likely to be successful
in hypnosis. All hypnosis is really self-hypnosis. You are the “driver”
and your therapist is simply the guide with the “road map”.
4.
Can
I be hypnotized against my will?
No! You are in control. You can always refuse to go into hypnosis
if you so desire.
5.
While
in hypnosis, can I be forced to do something against my will?
No! It is extremely unlikely that a person can be forced to violate
a concept of morality to which he/she is strongly attached.
6.
If
I do not believe in hypnosis, will this make any difference? You
do not have to believe in hypnosis in order to go into the hypnotic
state. You must, however, be willing to go along with what your
therapist tells you.
7.
Can hypnosis harm me?
Hypnosis can do you no more harm than night-time sleep. However,
be sure to work with an ethical and professional hypnotherapist
who is governed by a strict code of conduct and has received approved
training.
8.
Is
it possible to hypnotize oneself?
Yes! With a little practice you can learn to do self-hypnosis which
may help you further control yourself much better than you would
otherwise be able to do.
9.
Will I remember what happened in the hypnotic state?
In general you will be aware of all that goes on during your session.
If you go into very deep hypnosis, what went on while you were hypnotized
may seem like a night-time dream which you forgot as soon as you
awoke.
10.
Should
I use hypnosis for my situation?
There is no reason why you should not use hypnosis for your problem,
but, of course, it is up to you to make the decision. Your hypnotherapist
would like you to be as comfortable as possible.
